Swimming, Carnglaze Caverns and Bowling

Yesterday we had a very much needed cruis-(ier) Sunday. I still only managed to sleep in until 8.30 am - it's not fair!!! At home I struggle to get up for work! But we had a lie in regardless and then headed round to James' grandparents who put on a spectacular traditional Sunday roast lunch for us all, including apple pie and custard for desert. James and I then walked around Saltash and down to the local swimming pool where he used to be part of the club. It was a very tiny pool but we mucked around for a bit there which was nice.

Today was a bit more active. We went out to Carnglaze Caverns, an old slate mine/quarry in the morning, which is halfway between Liskeard and Bodmin. It was a lot smaller than I thought and even with stopping to read everything took hardly any time at all to get around, but it was pretty awesome none the less, and quite interesting to see all the types of minerals found in Cornwall that were on display, not to mention the amazing underground lake where the area gets all its water from even today.

Afterwards we headed to this amazing department store called Tragor Mills where they literally have anything you could ever want. They had a mitre ten section, a briscoes section, a plastics section, an equestrian, camping, outdoors, clothing, like everything imaginable AND it was all cheap too! James got a brand new suit jacket (he left his last one in America) for 20 pounds, new jeans and a new hat (he left his last one on the train to Bath...) and I got a new really good quality rain jacket for 20 pounds as well! Had to resist urge to keep looking round and spend more money....

After lunch James and I were dropped off at the Liskeard train station to travel into Plymouth to go bowling (I've never been before). The train was late so we ended up sitting in a park watching the crows for awhile and then we had a nice walk through Plymouth from the railway to the bowling centre.

We had a couple of games of bowling which was heaps of fun. With the gutters up I almost managed to tie the score with James, but with them down in the second game about half of my shots were gutter balls! It was a nice afternoon and it was really enjoyable travelling round the countryside by bus and train :)

We finished the day off by meeting up with some of James' old family friends, the Gregory's. James went to school with one of their daughters, Hannah, and hadn't seen her for 9 years, so it was really nice for me to put a name to a face and for James to see them all again :)
