Day 1 and 2: Wellington to Sydney to Kuala Lumpur to London!

And we're off!!!

Finally!

Bit of a long day to start off with, dropping the kitty cat Mr Monty off at the cattery in the Hutt early in the morning, last minute packing and cleaning of the house, and making it to the airport for 2.15

We timed arrival at the airport pretty well - after we had got through check in and customs we only had 45mins to kill which we filled with a late lunch :)

But finally the plane took off - albiet an awful Wellington one! And then there was plenty of time to sit back and relax and be bored.... !!

The Flight Routes

Leg 1: Wellington to Sydney
This ended up being a pretty nice flight -we got to watch the sunset from above the clouds for the last hour or so of the flight which was so beautiful. The photo does not do it justice :(

Then we had second dinner at Sydney airport haha - the plane food was fine it was just very small and quite early. So I ended up trying roast duck for the first time and it was sooooo tasty and amazing!

Then the shopping! This place is MASSIVE! We both got books and bought some pounds which makes us feel pretty rich and then I decided I want to buy Monty a toy from the toy shop on the way back! It's a plastic ball that moves around by itself with a big fluffy tail attached! Sounds like hours of fun!

ALL OF THE MONEY

Leg 2: Sydney to Kuala Lumpur
We got a third dinner!!! Didn't eat much of it though funnily enough. 8.5 hours seemed so extraordinarily long after only 3 hours to Sydney and it was so hard to get comfortable that we only got maybe 3 hours of sleep. Apparently I also kept elbowing poor James in the stomach which he didn't seem to appreciate!

Got into a very quiet airport at just after 4.30 am Malaysia time. It was 28 degrees Celcius already!

Leg 3: Kuala Lumpur to London
This was the hardest flight of all, despite a brief nap in the Kuala Lumpur airport I was almost completely sleep deprived and we were both absolutely exhausted. It was also the longest at 12.5 hours. I read the entire book I bought in Sydney and we were still only halfway there!! But we finally got into Heathrow at 4.15 pm London time.
We then had a really disappointing experience with Silver Shuttles. I would not recommend them. They were an hour late to pick us up with no apology or update (I ended up calling the company 3 times),  then drove like a maniac nearly have 3 car collisions because he tried to overtake every car in front of him ever. He took speed bumps at about 3 times the recommended speed, hadn't bothered to look up where he was taking us and expected us to know our way around London to get there. To top it off he didn't even wear a seatbelt or help us with our luggage. The entire experience was completely unprofessional and not particularly appreciated after more than 35 hours of travelling with little sleep.
Thankfully our accommodation is just what we wanted. It's small but comfortable and has everything we could possibly need. It's a bit loud we are above a busy street but that can't be helped.
We ended the day by going out for dinner and by buying very much needed teabags!! Looking forward to a good nights sleep and the days ahead :)
